In the last clause of Matthew 10:8, Jesus said to His twelve apostles, “Freely you* have received, freely give.” In this, He was reminding them that what they have “received” had been given “without cost” to them, and that they were to give just as freely, in keeping with the fact that they were ministering according to His gift, and not their own native abilities. (To read more on this, I invite you to read my Berean Fact Sheet No. 020, “Freely you* have received, freely give.”) For decades, this has been my philosophy of ministry, my financial policy. And from the inception of this website (February 1, 1998) to now, I have operated by this principle; in fact, I have made no mention of finances. Over the years, I have received a few donations, but for the most part we have been covering the operating expenses out of our own pocket. With regard to my financial policy and my philosophy of ministry, nothing is going to change. As the Lord enables, I will continue to make what I have written available freely to all through this website. As the Lord enables, I will continue to research and write. As the Lord enables, I will continue to add more Berean Fact Sheets and essays to my website. As the Lord enables, I will make available e-books on various topics. If you desire to contribute to this ministry, that is between you and the Lord. We are now making provision on this website for online donations to be made via PayPal. Of course, I will be grateful for any donations received, but I will not—I must not—devote all of my time to seeking financial support and soliciting donations. My responsibility is to utilize the teaching gift the Lord has given me, to devote my time to this ministry of writing. The rest I’ll leave to Him.
